We survey the floor, account for metal shelving and equipment, and segment the shop-floor network from the office network. A compromised office laptop should not be able to reach a machine controller.
The inventory system tracks raw materials, work in progress and finished goods. We host it on-premise or in Azure, depending on the connection speed between the shop floor and the cloud. We back it up locally and to the cloud, and we test a restore quarterly.
Manufacturers have product specifications, compliance certificates and test reports scattered across folders. We deploy a private Azure OpenAI copilot that lets estimators and sales staff ask in plain English: "What is the load rating on the X beam?" or "Show me the compliance certificate for the Y model". The system retrieves the document and returns the answer with a citation. Staff spend less time looking up PDFs and more time quoting.
