Reactive break-fix is expensive. Proactive monitoring is cheaper than the downtime it prevents.
Most NSW small businesses do not need a full-time IT manager. They need a reliable answer when something breaks, and someone to make sure it does not break in the first place. That is the managed IT model we have run since 2004.
A managed service with us means a fixed monthly fee that covers helpdesk access, monitoring, patching, and scheduled maintenance. You do not call us only when something fails. We see the fault on our monitoring dashboard before your staff do, and we fix it on the way in to work rather than at 9:30 on a Monday.
We work with businesses from five to around eighty staff. Below that, the monthly fee is more than the problem. Above that, the business usually has an internal IT person who needs an outsourced arm for peak load and after-hours cover. The sweet spot for us is the middle: a practice manager, office coordinator or operations manager who wants IT handled without a full-time hire.
Pricing is per device, per month. Servers, workstations and laptops each have a flat rate. Network devices are included in the monitoring tier. There are no surprise call-out fees during business hours for issues covered by the plan. After-hours work is quoted separately, and we tell you the rate before we start.
Most of the tickets we resolve in a week fall into a small number of categories. Understanding them is useful because it tells you what a well-managed environment should look like, and what should not be consuming your time.
Printers are the single most common source of helpdesk calls in NSW small businesses. The fix is usually a firmware update, a corrupted driver, or a print queue that needs clearing. On a managed plan, we push the firmware update centrally and alert you before the device fails, rather than after your receptionist has rebooted it three times.
Outlook profiles corrupt when a mailbox exceeds its quota, when a laptop joins a new network, or when the local cache grows past a usable size. We pre-size mailboxes and cache mode settings so this does not happen, and we resolve it remotely in minutes when it does.
A workstation that takes two minutes to log in is usually a roaming profile that has not been cleaned. We move staff to a cloud profile solution and trim the local cache on a scheduled basis.
Backups fail silently. We monitor the backup job on every device and alert on a missed run within the hour, not at the end of the month when someone goes to restore a file.
We have seen too many "managed IT" plans that cover only the helpdesk call, not the underlying problem. Our plan includes the call, the fix, the monitoring that should have caught the fault earlier, and the quarterly report that shows you what was done. You do not get a surprise invoice for "this was not in the plan" when a disk fails. The disk is in the plan. The quarterly maintenance window is in the plan. The after-hours patch test is in the plan.
We do not sign you up and disappear. The first two weeks are spent on: a site survey of your current network, a device inventory, a backup verification, a patch audit, and a review of your user accounts against who is still employed. We produce a one-page findings report and fix the top three gaps before the first monthly invoice. The fixes are applied before the first monthly invoice.
We will review your current devices, produce a simple monthly price, and tell you what is covered.
